Hi.

Welcome to Pfund in the Sun, my disaster of a blog! I’m documenting my travels across the world here. Enjoy your stay and come back later for further updates on my adventures!

Casa Biondo: Day 2 (8/21/19)

Casa Biondo: Day 2 (8/21/19)

I got an Italian cooking lesson from Enzo for lunch today - we made Eggplant Parmesan and damn was is good! We had fresh eggplant and garlic from their garden which made all the difference in the world, sooooo good yo!

Yesterday Andrea, Enzo and Birgit’s son who is home for the summer, mentioned he was an engineer in training and that he is very interested in loudspeaker design. He’s actually toying with a COMSOL model of a 3D speaker casing with the hopes of examining stress due to the speaker’s vibration. But he’s having some software trouble and asked if we could meet up and talk acoustics in the afternoon. I did some journaling and blog work until he came by. Fast forward through some scratchpad physics and tracking down a coding error or two and we got it working! Physics accomplished baby, hell yea!!!

Had a chill evening with Birgit since Enzo and Andrea went out for a show. Talked for two hours over meatballs, fresh bread, and a cucumber salad. The conversation wandered all over the place, from my physics classes to the value of art to nuclear energy to our thoughts on humanity and ideas about the universe. Also got to witness a spectacular mountain sunset while we talked. An excellent way to wrap up my stay in Tuscany, nice and chill after such a chaotic evening with lots of people yesterday. Tuscany is definitely going to be one of my trip highlights, beautiful scenery and lovely people!
