Gryon to Frick (9/01/19)
Caught the 7:45am train downhill to the main station in route to Frick, a small town in northern Switzerland - It had a cheap AirBnB and cuts the 10 hour journey to Nuremberg into two parts. Took several train transfers since Gryon and Frick are both somewhat out of the way, but I made it OK. The hostess and her son, Claudia and Lukas, are quiet and I have a nice space to chill in their basement. Lukas was kind enough to come pick me up at the train station and walk me to their house. We chatted for a few minutes on the way over and it turns out his girlfriend is actually from Madison! Small world!
I was planning to get groceries for the evening but couldn’t resist a nap. Turns out every store closes at like 4:00pm here so I woke up to everything being closed. I was about to order some pizza for takeout when Claudia got home and actually offered to treat me to a home-cooked diner! We chatted for around an hour (during which I ate about as much as Claudia and Lukas combined) and I discovered that Claudia teaches music at a school one town over and Lukas has been swapping instruments for many years but is currently into guitar. Huzzah! More musicians!
