Hi.

Welcome to Pfund in the Sun, my disaster of a blog! I’m documenting my travels across the world here. Enjoy your stay and come back later for further updates on my adventures!

Rome: Day 5 (8/17/19)

Rome: Day 5 (8/17/19)

The plan was to find a public library or university building that was quiet with wifi so I could chill somewhere for the day but the central library was closed and the university is walled with a security check that I’m not interested in. Walked to VIlla Torlonia, a somewhat nearby park with a few sights according to google maps.

Spent an hour or so near the park entrance looking at places I could go and finally decided on checking out Casina delle Civette, otherwise known as the “Owl House”. Apparently its a house that was expanded a few decades ago and had a bunch of cool stained glass of assorted birds, nature scenes, and one that I especially liked of Nordic warriors marching with a naked child that was a solid 8ft tall. Afterwards I spent a few hours chilling around the park and even found a spot with some public wifi. Had lunch at a medium sized place off just off the main road called Ambasciatori Partenopei. Another Neapolitan restaurant that I was drawn to due to the smell. Ordered the Tris, which had 1/3 yellow tomatoes, 1/3 daisies, 1/3 broccoli and sausage. Delicious. The thin crust that’s salty and chewy but crisp on the bottom, big honking chunks of mozzarella, just 10/10. I’ve come to the conclusion that I could eat this every day (if my wallet didn’t have a hard limit that is). I’m definitely noticing that by noon its too hot to do anything outside here, its just heat and sweat and the overwhelming desire to shower and nap.
