Vilnius: Day 2 (9/16/19)
Today was an all round good day! Slept in till about 10:30 since I was up late chillin’ upstairs and ate a leisurely breakfast/played piano till noon. I definitely sounded beter than on my first go now that I’m familiar with the instrument’s quirks. I eventually stopped since a girl needed to make a skype call after a little while.
I then made my way over to the Illusions Museum, which was just about the most touristy thing I could think of. Gotta say the 9 euro entry was way higher than I expected seeing as the museums yesterday were only 4 or 5, but it made sense when a staff member, Greta, actually met and walked me through every exhibit/took pictures for me which was super nice! We chatted and joked around the whole time, plus they had a tibetan singing bowl! I don’t know why since its not really an illusion in my opinion but you better believe I played it!
I wasn’t feeling like I had met my adventure quota yet so I set off down a random road westward and spent a couple hours wandering around town. It’s a cute city! People seem to keep to themselves on the street from what I saw, but are very friendly when you engage them. I eventually found my way back to the hostel feeling properly adventured and worked on PfundInTheSun till dinnertime. I’m really close to being ready to go live which is exciting!
After a bit of a dilemma I finally decided on going back to the same place for diner as last night but ordering something totally different. That way I can guarantee leftovers for my bus tomorrow and keep enjoying classic Lithuanian cuisine! I went for a pickled-bean chili and a spicy chicken noodle dish with fried boiled potatoes. The chili looked identical to what I am used to but tastes very different: the pickled beans give it a kind of sauerkraut-like flavor which went well with the fresh rye bread it came with. Noodles were good too, similar to chicken broccoli with a little spice.
